Ascent Trip Report

previous trip reports cover most everything. i used gortex boots with knee high gaiters, and that kept my feet mostly dry. the stream crossings are all easy... but peakbagger has no checkbox for "mud up to my shin", so i'm using the stream ford icon for that (2019-02 edit: PB has a mud/swamp icon now!). the boggiest sections are between the two ridges. i'm checking the "scramble" box as well: going down/up/down/up between the ridges involves numerous class 2+ moves on slippery rocks/dirt/trees, and occasional vegetable belay.

one tip though: after you descend and re-cross the stile and are presented with a lush green inviting hillside, don't do what every track has done so far: don't take the bait! that lush green hillside would be a fire hazard in california: it's grass 2' to 3' deep, which hasn't seen a cow in years. i should have stuck to the fenceline, even though there are some extra ups/downs, there is more of a trail near the fence, and you mostly get to avoid plunge stepping in the tall grass.
