Ascent Trip ReportOn our way to spend the Easter weekend in Gatineau to visit our parents, Luiza and I made slight detours to grab two MRC high points. We headed west from Eastman on HWY 10, then west again on HWY 30. When we reached the exits for pont Mercier, Luiza told me that from my notes, we should go off here. I was doubtful but took a right and then another on montée Saint-Régis. I stopped to get my bearings and after figuring things out, we took rang Saint-Régis Nord, heading soutwest. When we reached HWY 221, I turned left to go on rang Saint-Régis Sud. This was a good choice as the pavement was much better. We kept going on HWY 207 until we reached Saint-Isidore and turned right on rue Boyer.
From there it was only a short while before we arrived at the crest of the road with sandy berms on both sides. I hopped out, climbed on the berm and looked around. To my surprise, I saw a small mason jar tied to a bush and told Luiza to come check it out. After struggling to open the rusty lid, I saw an entry from Serge Massad who probably put the register there. Luiza and I signed in and we took the road back towards HWY 30 through Mercier. |
