Ascent Trip Report

A drive up on 11e rang on a glorious day.

The North Boundary Line of Parc National de la Yamaska is the E-W 11e Rang, its HP is on the south side 11e Rang, at the crest of the road 275 meters E of JCT 11e/Chemin Maxime - a drive up. There is no obvious HP and not at all interesting, across the road on the north side is farm house #1771.

The Park's north entrance is at the JCT 11e/Maxime, there is a Self Register Station with parking, the daily fee is $8.50. The Park's main entrance is on the south side 8e Rang, camping, hiking trails and water sports are available.

The actual high ground of this whole area however is to the north of the Parc HP, a very interesting N-S rocky ridge with very open woods, well worth exploring. I walked/explored this rocky ridge and chose its HP at 250 meters to the north at an obvious rock outcrop (GPS 45.44553,-72.60632), added a small cairn to the spot, a number of small pools among the rocks. A farm complex is a short distance to the west.

On the way home I took a short detour to Mont Saint-Hilaire for my 84th visit - my goal is 100 visits, hopefully next year. The 3 parking lots were completely full on this glorious day for the outdoors. I first visited Mont Saint-Hilaire in 1977, 40 years ago.
