Ascent Trip Report

From Oak Spring Trail. Including several PB bumps. The views are nice and the rolling hills are still green, but not for long. Flowers past prime, but still quite a few blooming. Poppies, Blazing Stars, Lupine, Fillerees, Bush Poppies, Yerba Santa, Scottish Broom, Blue Dick, Fiddlenecks, and the usual yellow, white and little pink no names.

Started on trail and took roads and fire roads. Route down Ridge to Peak 3627 is almost overgrown with Yerba Santa and yucca, with lots of brush 3-5 feet high. Lots of tall grass and brush to walk through to bag the extra peaks, but fortunately only ran into one Garter snake and a few lizards. Lots of gnats and little black bugs that bite, and couldn't take a nice cool rest in the shade under trees at stream crossing because of all the flies and bugs. Used Patrick's track, and it worked well except we didn't care for his shortcut on the return. Firebreak quickly deteriorated into a steep downhill XC to the streambed through very thick grass and brush. The remains of a really old truckbed was crashed on side of hill just above the stream. Left a new register on Yerba Buena Ridge. Didn't find any benchmarks or registers on any other peaks.
