Ascent Trip Report***Sierra Club Outing***
led by Mat Kelliher, Pat Arredondo
We started out from the Visitor's Center and made our way over to the Warren Point Trail TH located at the southern edge of the campground. We followed the Warren Point Trail to a point a bit west of Pt 4751 and then headed off cross country for Peak 5005. From here we dropped down off 5005 and headed north cross country to Warren View, and then on to Warren Point. From Warren Point we followed a well defined use trail north and then northeast to Peak 4842, we continued from there northeast and then north on use trail to a Picnic Area just north of the JTNP boundary, and then headed up for a little loop hike to get South Park Peak, and then we returned to our cars at the Visitor Center.
Fun little loop hike out of Black Rock Campground. Perfect weather with a nice steady breeze blowing all day to keep things cool. Plenty of flowers out there.
Mileage and gain for entire loop: 6.5 miles, 1765' gain, 4 hours 50 mins
