Ascent Trip Report

took the standard route. the flowers near the bottom had seen better days, but as i got higher in elevation they became quite enjoyable. you follow the park trails until you get just west of the point marked 3185 on the USGS topo, then look for cairns and a faint trail headed up the ridge. this cairned trail connects with the radio tower access road, which you take to the top.

the summit was kind of disappointing: between the antennas and the always-running diesel generators creating noise and exhaust fumes, and gusty wind, i didn't want to spend any time there. i headed back downhill to somewhere along the use trail, where i found a nice rock with a view to eat my lunch.

the flowers really made this hike, i'm not sure if i would have enjoyed it in other seasons.
