|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||1047 ft / 319 m|
Ascent Trip ReportWent the long way and followed the red path (waste of time - forestry commission put no effort into creating the hiking paths in Thrunton Wood). Nearly missed my first destination of Castle Hill which is through a small gate in the wall (no sign posting and red path takes you back to the car park). Then went to McCartney's Cave, the main reason for the detour. From there headed up and over the moors, saw the wild ponies before ascending Long Crag. The weather turned nasty on the top and I had to get off the summit quickly, so headed down the south side and followed the forestry road back to the car.
