Ascent Trip Report

Beautiful sunny weather of the climb, however, snow was heavy and wet. Climbed solo with Henry (dog). Fordyce road was packed snow and looked to have heavy snowmobile use. The trail up to the peak was difficult to find due to heavy snow. Would not have found turnoff if not for GPS. Even so, was not able to follow the actual trail due to difficulty following exact route. Snow was very slick, and even with mountaineering snowshoes had many falls and slides on the way up. Easy travel however, once we reach the ridge. The snow was melted/blown around the fire lookout. Still with heavy/deep snow at the actual peak, in some areas over the roof of some of the radio tower buildings. The trip down was fast and fun. Total climb time 4:45, which was almost entirely the slow steep slippery up. Altogether a great time. OGUL peak #9 for me.
