Ascent of Grassy Mountain on 2017-03-10
|Date:||Friday, March 10, 2017|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||1430 ft / 435 m|
Ascent Trip ReportAll private property, so only climb with permission, and climbing during deer hunting season (especially late November) is not advised. I approached from the northeast side, off Wineberry Lane, and traversed around to the northwest side to avoid a house near the top. Various old logging roads crisscross the northeast/northwest sides of the mountain and can help when crossing some of the steeper slopes. The summit area has been graded and is weedy. Decent views through the trees of Sharp Top, Flat Top, and Headforemost Mountain, but these views would probably be largely blocked by leaves in the summer. Approach from the south could be more difficult due to vegetation (kudzu?).
