Ascent Trip ReportThis was a tough one. Parked on Mt Wilson rd 100 ft north of the Kenyon Devore Trail,Took the trail down 3.5 miles to the Gabrieleno Trail (this was a beautiful trail, light fog and mist in the pines with only 2 big deadfalls and the water was running on high.) At the 1st water crossing there is a chain for grip but the water was to highs so we crossed a little down stream. Where the 2 streams merged we crossed and headed up the Gabrieleno Trail. At the curve north we left the trail and headed up the ridge towards the summit. This is where it got tough, the 1st ridge was semi open. The 2nd ridge was solid buckthorn for about 100ft,then opened up a little but was a steep 50 degrees for another 100ft. then solid buckthorn again for another 125 ft, after this we were able to weave thru the bushes and climb a few rocks up to the 1st summit. This peak is about 25 ft higher than our goal-Peak 4583. After summiting we dipped down across a saddle and up to the PB'er summit. Headed back the same way hitting the trail and up for 3.5 miles back to the car. |
