Ascent Trip Report

My buddy Jim drove up north from Georgia to join me in our annual winter hiking extravaganza, the 2017 edition. This time we decided to explore some other areas of the Adirondacks than we typically do, so, we drove up Route 30 to Tupper Lake to take on the Tupper Lake Triad, and, if all went well, we'd do them in one day! (for you youngsters out there, that may not seem like a big deal, but for us old farts, it's not a bad day's effort).

This was the second of three peaks we would attempt today. The first 1 mile of this trail is a pretty gradual grade pretty much straight into the woods. Then you break away from the old road and into the woods, an at that point the grade steepens to a moderate pitch. Several steeper pitches are encountered closer to the summit, which, is not completely in the open, but, it does offer some very nice views toward the south and west especially.

This is a great hike for kids and pets.
