Ascent Trip ReportLiDAR Analysis:
Based on LiDAR data collected in 2015 and analyzed in 2020, the remnant of Big Ridge next to the FAA facility is the true HP of Harnett County. The HP checks in at 495 feet (N35.299213 W79.161328). The full analysis is here.
In 2017, I didn't have the newer LiDAR data, so I visited both suggested sites (water tanks and FAA towers). For the true HP near the FAA towers, the natural high ground is between the eastern fence of the FAA facility and the berm at the edge of the quarry. The full trip report, with pictures, can be found here.
