Ascent Trip ReportAfter taking advice from previous climbers I was expecting this to be a little tricky.
I decided Friday would be the best day for an attempt, being the holy day and hoping that work on the road may be stopped for the day. I was wrong. The whole area was very busy with people visiting, the roadblock remains in place with construction work ongoing. I climbed up to the ridge which was also busy meaning access isn't a problem. The ridge can easily followed and is reasonably well hidden from the road, I did my best to avoid being seen but am sure I must have been spotted. Once off the ridge the large flat area mentioned by Richard Mclellan is reached, this is now a large camp for the construction workers. I stayed as far away as possible and was again unchallenged. Next comes the gated compound which I thought for certain I'd be stopped at, again I stayed as far away as possible and was unchallenged. From here follow the fence/border to the top. I returned by the same route.
Either I was lucky or they are now used to the strange people who come from time to time and just want to climb the hill!? |
