Ascent Trip Report This was a private hike with Mike Johnston. This was my 5th time for the Lower Peak Saddleback Butte. We started from the campground at Saddleback Butte State Park. Good trial to the summit. From the summit, it was down to the saddle then up to Saddleback South.. We went down to the trail to the junction with the trail to the picnic area. From there we crossed country to Little Butte, then cross country to the car.
Next was Long’s. To get there I drove north on 170 to J. East on J to 190th. North on 190th to G. West on G 9/10th mile to a faint dirt road on the left. Drove on this road 3/10th mile to a road on the right. Drove a short distance to the summit. This bump is the local dump site. Just follow the trash.
Next was a new bump for me – 2883 BM. To get there, I drove east on G 6 miles to 230th street, north on 230’th 3 miles to D street. 230 is paved for the first 2 miles then dirt for about a mile to D. There is no sign for D. I had a waypoint. Turn east on D, drove 1 mile to 2883. The BM is on the SE corner
Next was Sunday. From 2883, I continued east on D for 7/10th mile and park. The road continues, but I don’t have 4WD and didn’t think I could make it. If you have 4WD, you could drive to about 1/3 mile from the base of Sunday. Sunday is on a ridge that runs SE and is the farest point east. I returned the same way.
