Ascent Trip ReportI don't often climb unnamed county high points, but the Bartow County HP is only 200 feet off the trail to Pine Log Mountain (Cherokee Co. HP), which was my main objective. I am thankful to The Oesers and Mike Beavers whose trip report informed me that this area is only open on weekends in January. Without their trip report I would have made a long unsuccessful drive from Missouri to a locked gate to this area far from the actual trailhead. Even with an open gate in January, however, you will still have a long hike to this county high point. The trailhead is at a locked gate with a "5" painted on it and it took me 1.25 hours to hike to the Bartow Co. HP from there. The forest prevents any view of the surrounding area and the high point location is relatively flat, so there is no specific high point spot.
