Ascent Trip Reporti followed bob mclaughlin's track and found the use trail relatively easily. it's easy to lose, but generally easy to find again. i just kept looking for the cut or snapped branches.
the trail would lead me to the base of the rocks. the other reports differ on class 2 vs. class 3: but either way, today the rocks were covered in snow and wet moss. i tried a few holds and my boots just kept slipping off. i decided i'd try my microspikes... i really wasn't sure if climbing on rocks with them was a great idea, but they really did the trick: they dug in past the wet moss and snow and gripped on the rock. it was still a bit spicy going up because snow was occluding the gaps between rocks, so i had to test all my holds carefully to ensure they were actually holds. i'd rate it class 3 because of some moves i made around some rocks near the bottom, but perhaps there is a class 2 route which i missed.
summit views are great.
a crow decided to keep me company while i was downclimbing. circling over me, squawking and clucking. it seemed like he was asking "why are you here?"
this unranked peak really was the highlight of this hike.
track and stats are in my main konocti report.
