Ascent Trip Reportkonocti was my 100th CC peak. i'd been saving the konocti quintuple for a nice clear day, and this would be the day. thanks to the recent rains and snow there were excellent views in all directions. snow mountain stood out to the north, appropriately covered in snow.
konocti itself had snow patches below 3800', but it was somewhat continuous after 3800'. the road is so popular there were many tracks in the snow already, and traction wasn't really an issue.
i was pleasantly surprised by the number of people i passed on my way down the mountain: the park seems quite popular. i got to the trailhead at 9am, and only one woman had been up earlier than me though, she was headed down as i passed about half-way. i had the summits to myself.
as i neared the trailhead i spotted a murder of crows spinning around lazily overhead, squawking and clucking at each other. last time i experienced that was on calabasas peak.
track and stats include the other three sub-peaks.
