Ascent Trip ReportI used Kevin Williamson's excellent trip report from 2001 to find this access route. The mileages given were off a bit from my car's odometer, but not enough to cause any problems. It was a long pleasant drive to the turnaround spot at the dead end of Road 212B. At this spot my GPS read .21 miles from the summit. I noticed that I was closer a short distance back down the road, so I drove back and parked on the side of the road when I was only .15 miles from the top. It was a steep climb from here and the trees came in handy, especially on the way back down. There is no trail, but it is a very mild bushwhack. Once I reached the ridge after 17 minutes of climbing, I had to hike north several dozen yards to get to the attractive summit rock outcroppings. The highest point is easy to spot and makes a nice victory photo. One of these bedrock outcroppings forms a low overhang and someone built a small shelter underneath. There is a partial view through the trees to the east and west, but I was here in January and this might not be the case in the summer. I returned to my car in 13 minutes, which was much easier than the ascent!
