Ascent Trip Report

Revisit with Alan Bernier. No permits available so managed without. Day hike, 6hrs up, 4hrs45 down. For fuller description see 26 Dec 2016 TR.

Arrived Casa Mariposa 6pm after Irazu ascent; dinner at Hotel Uran; Restaurant wifi not working as usual (and they won't let diners onto the Hotel wifi).

0235 start hiking, trail dry from a couple of rain-free days. Rainy route-march from just before Crestones hut, final steep climb to summit is cold wet and windy just like my recent ascent. Quick photo and down, moving quickly until past Crestones hut, sun comes out and we relax, ambling down the dry trail (it didn't rain down here - but probably started after we got down). Lots of folk on trail.

Pm we drive back thru rain to San Jose: I fly home tomorrow after an interesting and successful Central America trip.
