Ascent Trip Report

led by Mat Kelliher, May Tang, Chris Spisak, Lilly Fukui, Winnette Butler, Mike Dillenback, Bill Simpson, Virginia Simpson, Jimmy Quan

Year end trip up to the high point of San Diego County to bag the newest addition to the HPS List. We were charged $25 per vehicle at the guard shack to drive up Hot Springs Mtn Road (all vehicles were required to be 4WD); started driving through snowy patches a couple of miles up, got a vehicle stuck in the snow a little further up, then a fallen tree across the road that blocked further vehicular access at 5.7 miles forced us to walk the remaining 1.75 miles to the parking area near the lookout, then another 0.25 miles on use trail to the summit. Fun little class 3 scramble up the summit block. We were totally in cloud, so no views were to be seen. Light rain and in cloud for the entire 2 hours we were out of our cars.

Fun trip, good peak, long drive and pricey, but on a nice day it would be good if the nearby Peak 6400 and Corral BM were added to the trip.
