Ascent Trip ReportAfter climbing Black Mountain near Whitehall, NY earlier in the morning, I decided to go camping and tackle a few other of the fire tower mountains. It took a while to find the trailhead, but it is actual well marked...I just hadn't driven far enough to find it yet. Despite the short distance (3.2 miles round trip), it is definitely a rigorous climb that is mostly uphill. The trail is rocky, but there are only a few wet/muddy spots so my feet stayed dry for once. Unfortunately the summit is a mess and the tower cab is locked, but it was still a nice climb. This was #15 for me in the Fire Tower Challenge.
