Ascent Trip Report

On trip home from Camden saw that Frye was only 3 miles from main road. Doubting that i would ever be backpacking the southeast side of Frye where the better slopes are - and reading that the fire tower had been removed, we decided to drive the extra three miles in and jump out of the car and do a quick cheap bagging. Ran the half mile up 200 feet and half mile back in around 15 minutes for fun.

Very little views from the west less sloped side of the mountain - but the eastern is much stepper and has a trail down. The fire tower is dismantled - only the USGS marker and anchor ties still visible. The top, however is exposed metamorphic shists that have a high iron content and the rocks have a beautiful reddish, grayish, and greenish sheen. Had to bring some home.
