Ascent Trip ReportI set out at 8:30 am and traversed south toward the Pico del Fraile. The trail ran out and I did not care to cross the Cañada del Oso to get to the long west-south-west ridge of P. Fraile.
I decided to go straight up and ridge run over to P. Fraile. The ridge run was more troublesome than I expected, more thin ridges. I got up the P. Fraile at 2:00 pm and then ridge ran back north, debating whether to climb Pico del Aguila. Along the way a rock smashed my right pinkie finger.
I made it up the P. Aguila after 4:00 pm. Both Picos were cloud-enshrouded. Both Picos are narrow on top and P. Aguila is quite a rock. I headed straight down the mountain on lousy footing. Two thunderclaps made me anxious. I got back to the Albergue at 6:18 pm, as it started to get dark. |
