Ascent Trip ReportFrom the S22, HPS trip led by Peter and Ignacia Doggett. Group of 7, Tay's list finish on Big Rabbit! Started under a waning half moon at 4:30 am, about 5 hours to Villager and less than 8 hours from the start to Big Rabbit. There were a couple of injuries on the way down from Rabbit and so the sun set just after we began the descent from Villager. Thick cloud cover and moonless night, route finding was tricky for the first 1500-2000 feet of the descent from Villager. Ignacia did a fantastic job leading the group down, not a single misstep. After that, it was slow hiking down to the car in the dark, a total hiking time 17h30m.
I aggravated a foot injury (from a hike the previous weekend) on the descent from Rabbit. The group's pace was quite slow and I had no trouble keeping up. Moleskin helped alleviate the pain a bit, but the lesson is that I should have put some moleskin on it when the bruise was beginning to form the previous weekend. Waiting for pain to show up on this hike was too late.
