Early Morning training hike. Started at parking lot of Byran Herbet Reece Trail and intersected the AT at 0.7 miles. Summited Blood Mountain at 2.2 miles. Great AT historic shelter building at top with nice limestone formations. Several nice slabs to view surrounding mountains of limestone and some limited scrambling formations at summit. Very good views. Then proceded down AT and picked up the Ducan Ridge Trail to bag Slaughter. See Trip Report for Sluaghter.

In order to do this nonloop trip - there was an additional 1000 required to go down Blood Mountian climb slaughter and reclimb Blood from the other side. The trip up and back Blood is 4.4 miles. The entire trip was around 8 miles
