Ascent Trip ReportClimbed Elbrus with a local guide service (Pilgrim Expeditions?); during summer holiday; large group of climbers; possibly 10-15; some from HK; London; Australia; Germany; I was the only American; saw the Russian group on the climb for the first time - the dangerous one that I saw in Antarctica as well; easy climb although first time I had trouble with toenail coming down; bad/old plastic boots made my toe bang against boot all the way down, which was difficult; met the Icelandic climber for the first time; the guy who later climbed with Adventure Consultants to finish 7 summits in a year a few years earlier than I did; he was very sick and should not have been climbing, but a camera man (Icelandic guy who was a much better climber than the main guy) followed him around and made sure he summitted. Good weather.
