Ascent Trip ReportParked in lot and hiked down to water's edge to make a low TH. Then meandered around up through the woods enjoying various hiking trails, bike trails, and open country till I finally stumbled upon a view of the tower. This is the basic beacon to which way to head. Once near the tower you have gone from lake to mesic woods to upland scrubby woods of sand pine, Chapman oak, myrtle oak, pignut and scrub hickory. Finding the exact highpoint is pretty much impossible in that the final contour within the park is flat and covered in thick scrub. I bushwhacked some and took several line cuts through the scrub off the outer hiking trail that takes near the property line. IN some places you can actually push through to the fence line and I was not able to discern a specific spot. If you make it behind the tower you are pretty much as high as the park goes. I found a Cooper's Hawk perched on a stump 10 feet from me that did not fly away! Coming down, I followed the trails around the "farm" through the scrub, back down to the lake more than twice, through several sink features and found following the Frisbee golf course to be somewhat fun as it meandered up and down hilly terrain giving some sense of adventure and hiking to an otherwise normal FL (I wish I was a peakbagger living in nearly other state) type of feel.
As with most FL peakbagging - not much of a peakbag but as a public place to get out and hike some hilly terrain, I got some nice exercise in a peaceful setting. I might just go back. Also, as another note, about the 4th time will highpointing or peakbagging I stumbled into a geocashe. Who needs a GPS?
Then on to go see the City of Orlando HP...yuck another water tower in a subdivision.
