Ascent Trip Report

Just verifying there is no public access, either from the south or east. This forested summit is locked up tight between a sturdy fence rimmed with barbed wire. According to the topo maps, the Ridge Oak Reservoir Park area is only a few feet lower than the true summit, and there are some very nice views out toward Pennybacker Bridge from there, so this was still a worthwhile outing. I chose to include this summit on PB as a rare 100ft+ prominence peak in Travis County, the tallest peak in the immediate Mount Bonnell area, and in order to make sure that its omission doesn't prompt others to put this in the database without pertinent information.

If your PB game is more akin to horseshoes and handgrenades, you might want to count this by enjoying the nearby park (and there's a geocache there too); for me, 300 yards is just not close enough to call it a successful ascent, and bear in mind that with the barbed wire, that is as close as you're getting without personally knowing the landowner.
