Ascent Trip Report

The road to the TH is decent. There is a campground (no running water) a few miles before the TH. There is also plenty of room to camp in the parking area. The start of the trail is well marked and the trail is fairly well-defined, although it is a little sketchy in sections. There are a lot of animal tracks, so it seems to be a regular animal use trail as well. There is a lot of dead fall to negotiate; the trail circumvents many of the downed trees, but there are quite a few to get over. The trail up to Snowy is well defined, but steep (poles suggested); it ends at the rock pile with the can and register on the summit. Not a very thrilling peak; the most exciting things are a couple of old rusty large cans of some sort. The view is decent, although not great. No scrambling on this one.

Plan on up to two hours on the dirt roads. Very few cars and no other hikers.
