Ascent of Carmine Peak in 2016-09
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||8542 ft / 2603 m|
Ascent Trip ReportI started from the Clearwater Lake loope road, climbing the first ridge south of Wolverine, then walking the crest north to Wolverine and on to Carmine. It's short (<2 mi) to the crest, but very steep with nearly 4000 feet of gain. The walk over to Carmine from Wolverine is nice with a few spicy spots, but nothing more than class 3. You can see my attached GPS route. On the way there, I stayed low and traversed to the west ridge, then went up. On the way down, I stayed on the ridge longer, but still dropped east. I could have continued on the ridge, but it was getting narrow for the dog. Gorgeous summer-like day.
