Ascent Trip Report

Parked at first pulloff on Glenwild Avenue coming up from Bloomingdale. Sign at trailhead says "Chikahoki Fire Road" along the bottom. If you're going up to Carris Hill from this trailhead (and I'm not sure I would recommend it, as it is complicated), it's best to take the yellow blazed Wyanokie Crest trail that veers off left from the trailhead instead of the old woods road that continues straight ahead. (Going in, I took the woods road by accident and eventually got where I needed to go, but it terminates at an ambiguous location, and none of the side trails are marked, so it is a real challenge to avoid getting lost/misdirected.) Once on the correct trail, it's important to study your trail map carefully and pay careful attention to the trail markings, as there are multiple trails that you switch over to (Hewitt Butler, Posts Brook) if you are trying to get to the yellow blazed Carris Hill trail (where most of the good viewpoints are) from the yellow blazed Wyanokie Crest trail you started off on (if that all sounds confusing, it's because it is...)

Nice views from the top and at the numerous viewpoints on the way up. Chikahoki Falls (on the Posts Brook) is nice too.
