Ascent Trip ReportThere was a group camp out in July 2012, I think it was Saturday, July 7. In the wee early morning hours on Saturday, my brother and I headed to the trail head while everyone else was sleeping. We ascended Doubletop, and returned to camp around breakfast time. The ascent to Doubletop starts off as a trail, turns into a cow trail, and turns into a bit of a boulder hop to the top. The summit has two cool rock buttresses, hence the name. I climbed both of them for good measure. The views from the top were great. There is a trail that runs along the ridge, but access to it comes from farther north than Steep Hollow, where we started our hike. |
