Ascent Trip ReportTwo day trip from Bubbs Creek via East Lake. East Ridge from the lake, claimed class 2 but I believe Secor was sandbagging a little. Some borderline class 3, let's settle on "spicy" class 2, a phrase I learned from a ranger in Mineral King. Dropping off into the descent of the northwest face scared me, in fact I spent a while traversing the summit ridge looking for alternates. But once I grew a pair and started the descent it wasn't too bad, the main issue being loose rock. Competed the loop via Sphinx Pass and the Sphinx Lakes, eventually rejoining Bubbs Creek. On this descent you'll face all sorts of terrain, including some unpleasant bushwhacking. I underestimated the second day: East Lake to Brewer and home to Roads End took me 12 hours.
