Ascent Trip Report

Parked at Cougar Pass trailhead, hiked the Cougar Ridge trail to Bobcat Trail then right on Engelmann Trail to a short cut called Burnt mtn bypass. this meets back up with the Engelmann Trail, went about 100ft west to an open area-in the back corner are some well placed yuccas. After these the trail opens up,it's steep in spots and you scramble over a few big rocks. When we hit the oak tree we were halfway there. The summit use to have 3 big cairns and a register but the rangers took them out. Oh Yeah-you're not suppose to be up here-it's off limits to the public.Don't let the Rangers catch you.
