Ascent Trip ReportHeads up, the USGS topo maps have the elevation of this peak completely wrong, look for yourself. Switch between topo and sat imagery. Also, Garmin has the peak location wrong as well. Peakbagger has it right. Now for my trip report.
Please note it was pretty cloudy up there, so my GPS tracks might not show the best way, but at the very least a way up.
From the Crow Pass trailhead I took the trail to just past the cabin where I crossed the small stream to the west. After the crossing I took the ramps north of the lake to the right side of the toe of Crow Glacier. I continued up along the right side toward the pass at the head of the glacier. Before the pass I picked a random gully that looked liked it reached the south ridge. After a bunch of disheartening scree turdling I reached the summit despite the USGS topo and Garmin map leading me astray. The wind and the snow made for a short stay and I returned via the same route. Jogging the majority the way it took me 4 hours and was around 10 miles round trip. |
