Ascent Trip Report

Parked and camped at the locked gate at 11800 ft, slept in the gully. In the morning we took off wearing full packs as we were spending the night at the summit. We got to the summit a 3pm and while we were waiting for everyone else to leave Red and I down climbed the rocky ridgeline to White Mountains Wilderness HP. Back at the summit there were two stone wind shelters in front of the stone hut, so we set up the tents inside, ate and watched the sun set. In the morning we all got up to watch the sunrise, ate then headed down at 7am. In the 1st 1/4 mile Chris slipped on ice and sprained his ankle. We wrapped it with 2 ace bandages and he walked out the 7 miles without a complaint, but it was slow going. Red and I cut off the road at the Observatory and XC'ed up to Mt.Bancroft then back down to the road between the the research station and the gate. We got back to the car at 11:45
