Ascent Trip ReportI was prepared to be underwhelmed. This was not the case. Drove up the forest rode into Nye canyon. Road was decomposed granite and passable in 4 wheel drive. The carsonite post numbers appear to be misplaced and do not match the road numbers on the map. Camped at 7800 ft. about 1 km. below the dry lake beds. This is a reasonable
spot and the road above was
considerably rougher. Hiked up the old road to the open plateau, across and over to the sweet benchmark. It was a nice little hike and a sweet little peak with nice views of the Wovoka. Heading back down the eastern slope to meet the road an old fire line is clearly visible. It appeared that native vegatation had regenerated. Abundant buckwheat, Indian rice grass and another waist high unidentified grass. No signs of livestock grazing. One other party in the area, a bow hunter.
