Ascent of Mount Lamborn on 2016-09-04
|Date:||Sunday, September 4, 2016|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||11396 ft / 3473 m|
Ascent Trip ReportThe road in is very bad. I somehow managed to get the Subaru in as far as where the trail is shown to begin on the topo (the actual vehicle turnaround is further in). However, I don't advise taking a vehicle other than an ATV in past the National Forest signs. Parked at the little trailhead there and slept before hiking.
I found I had to do a lot of bushwhacking on this one. A thunderstorm at sunrise meant that this was a drenching business. I used the fork heading west before Interocean Pass on my ascent which connects you with the Bell Creek trail; on the descent, I went down the east ridge. Had a hard time finding the trail on the descent, realized later that it is probably further downhill (east) than marked on the topo. The summit is very pleasant. Was about 4:20 up and somewhat faster on the descent.
