Ascent Trip Report

This would be my first of 3 highpoints in the span of 4 days. I drove all the way down from WI and was on my way to do the HPs of AR, LA, and MS. I was really impressed by the Ozarks. So pretty!! The previous day I had hiked into Hemmed in Hollow Falls and camped out in the woods about an hour from the trailhead. I had a nice sight on a ridge top overlooking Hemmed in Hollow. I was a little concerned that night though as an unexpected thunderstorm passed nearby that I didn't really want to be out in. Luckily the brunt of the storm was a little ways off. While at Magazine Mt. I looked for a few waterfalls I had seen in Tim Ernsts book but was unable to find them. Not sure why because it seemed like I was in the right spot according to the maps. It was a short little hike up to Signal Hill. Unfortunately it was so foggy that I didn't have the greatest vistas from the top. It was amazing how the weather changed though in the short span from the top of the Mountain down to the bottom. This HP is actually the highest point in the Ozarks. Also highly reccommended is a trip down to Hot Springs NP. That might have been the highlight of my entire trip. I will definitely have to return there at some point.
