Ascent Trip Report

Did this hike with Prof Truesdale on a hot, dry June day. Started just after 0700 from King Canyon Trailhead just off Kinney Rd. Trail was well maintained and ascent to top was fairly easy. Views from top of Wasson Peak are 360 deg and beautiful. Took several tangents throughout the hike to explore certain curiosities, including the nearby, lesser Amole Peak. After a quick ascent, decided to take the slightly longer Hugh Norris Tr -> Sendero Esperanzo Tr route back, which was also well maintained and worth the variety. There appeared to be an old abandoned mine about halfway down the Sendero Esperanzo Tr. About 99F by the time we got back to the car shortly after noon. Overall, a beautiful, fairly easy hike. Probably no better hike to get close and personal with the saguaros. Only major drawback is complete lack of shade on this hike.
