|Date:||Saturday, August 20, 2016|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||8128 ft / 2477 m|
Ascent Trip ReportTook the scenic route! Approached by traversing under the Jerry glacier along the unnamed grey glacial lake with Patty, Noel, John T., and Ava. We hiked in on Friday to make camp at Jerry Lakes. Patty, Noel and John wanted to climb Jack (which I'd already tagged) on Saturday so Ava and I traversed back over the Jerry glacier to gain the trail to the summit, we were able to climb up fun easy slabs to the far East side of the glacier (just small snowfields with no cracks or ice). After gaining the 7200 ft. saddle we traversed around 7100 ft. across the gentle slopes under Crater's South face and above the lake, reaching the trail around 7200 before the steeper climbing started. We followed cairns when the trail disappeared up some exposed class 2/3, requiring a few doggy 5th class moves. Great views of Jack and the North Cascades, so many familiar peaks in a row across the Southern skyline. We didn't hang out long, headed back down the way we came to swim and relax at our beautiful camp on upper Jerry Lake. About 5.5 hours round trip from the Lakes. There is a sweet bivy spot at the 7200 ft. saddle above Crater Lake. The gang climbed Jack with success on Saturday, we hiked out the same way on Sunday and headed straight for Mondo and Cascadia Farms.
