Ascent Trip Report

Early AM hike from the Black Mountain Gap shelter. Created breadcrumb points on my GPS pre-trip. Approached just south of Black Mountain Gap shelter on the north side. Lower elevations just push through the ferns. Keep looking for game trails and holes to go through the taller brush. Around halfway up the briers start. Do not attempt this without a good pair of jeans, work gloves, and a shell raincoat / nylon jacket at the minimum. Towards the top it's much thicker, just keep pulling aside/stepping over brambles. At the top it's extremely thick and dense vegetation 8-10 feet tall. Easy to get disoriented, so keep checking GPS. At the summit I found a vine that forms the infinity symbol.

On the ascent, had a class A face to face encounter with an adult Sasquatch.

On the descent, I accidentally flushed six turkeys directly in front of me and nearly had a heart attack.

No major injuries sustained from bushwhacking. In general it was not impenetrable and you could navigate around the thick stuff and enjoy a pleasant tromp through endless ferns.
