Ascent Trip ReportFrom Exit 76 on I-75, go east on KY 21 about 6.5 miles, passing between the brick buildings of Berea College en route. Where the road forks on the east side of town, take the right fork, which is still KY 21. At the junction with US 421 turn right (south) on 421 and go about 3.1 miles to KY 1912. Turn right on 1912; from here Estus Hibbard's mileages are correct. The gravel road you want is Cruse Ridge Road and it is the second gravel road on the right. (Tower Road is the first.) I stopped just short of what I presumed is Mike Van Winkle's house, where I saw a sign on the fence:
This seemd somewhat definitive and I saw no one in the yard. So I backed up a hundred feet or so and drove up the short gravel road to the summit, where I parked on the west side of the communication tower. The ground in front of the car (northwest of the tower) appeared to be a foot or so higher, but it was also disturbed ground. It also appeared to eb a foot or so higher in the woods a short distance west of the car. Wander until satisfied, which should take less than 5 minutes.
