Ascent Trip ReportOut 4th peak of the day Petes Point, Polaris Point (Petes Point/Sentinel Ridge Peak) and Sentinel came before this one. We ascended via the Polaris Pass/Tenderfoot Pass junction on the lower Western slopes of Dollar Lake Peak. Across country and angling uphill to the East North East, we started from 7850 and made our way for the low ridge that points south in the middle of the peak. From there we angled uphill more before attaining the summit ridge at the center low section between the two high ridges. The eastern summit ridge is obviously higher. From there we stuck to the ridge until gaining the summit. The north side is steep and exposed, the south side (where we ascended) was a steep grassy hillside with no difficulties save the tiring uphill. The summit register is on the second to last spur that juts out and is obviously the highest point. We descended on the ridge going to the NE towards Dollar Lake. this was fairly easy and quick. We made our way back to Tenderfoot Pass and our tent by picking a route that was slightly above the lake and in some of the broken rock bands. |
