Ascent Trip Report

We started from Meadow Lake. It was Jerry's third time. He knew the route well but we still referred to the GPX throughout the day to make sure we stayed on course. Hardly any brush; mostly walked on granite slabs. A very fine hike with great views and several lakes along the way. Even has a short class 3 section and a hidden miners' trail. Highly recommended.

The first part of Meadow Lake Road is gravel and in good condition except for some minor wash-boarding. The last couple of miles are dirt and rock and become progressively worse. Jerry insisted on driving, nominally because he has a second spare tire and was concerned about getting a double blowout. But actually the road isn't that bad; I think he just likes to drive. :-)

I thought the sketchiest part of the road was a couple of mud holes of indeterminant depth, but Jerry drove right through them without any issues. Well, other than a very dirty car! We saw a couple of sedans near the end of the road. Probably any good 2WD car with moderate clearance could get in there with enough patience.

8.5 miles RT. 1,400 feet gain. 5h25
