Ascent Trip ReportI only added one GPS spot to this TR; however, Jonas Abdo and I walked all over the place in a large radius to make sure we got the highpoint. This is just the closest waypoint I happened to record on my Gaia GPS app on my smartphone. We followed cohp.org driving directions and parked on the road near Red Shirt Table. It was a brutally hot day and the weeds were tall and scratchy. I was thankful for boots and long pants. We walked the relatively short distance over to the highpoint and wandered all over. The view of Badlands NP was quite beautiful. I had an allergic reaction to all of the plants on the hike back, which was unfortunate. I highly recommend some sort of GPS assistance in locating the highpoint since it isn't an obvious 'summit' and there was no benchmark/summit register. The roads in this area can be full of potholes--beware. |
