Ascent Trip Report

We tried to approach this one from the south at Midas, per Dennis Poulin's report, but a beaver dam at the stream crossing has created a mud pit that we did not wish to try to drive across. This report provides a route from the north.

From US Hwy 95 north of Winnemucca take Nevada Hwy 290 toward Paradise Valley for 11.6 miles. Then follow the attached GPS track to within 700 vertical feet of the summit. The roads were pretty good except for the last 3 miles, where 4WD was needed. High clearance was useful before that.

Note that the GPS track is of the drive. The walk to the summit follows a jeep road, with cross-country deviations possible to make your route more direct, and it is a trivial exercise to figure it out after the drive.
