Ascent Trip ReportWe took a Red Line bus (Sightseeing Cape Town Tours) to the lower cable car station. Due to the high winds this day, we already knew that the cable car was not operating. We took the Contour Path which begins near the cable car station, and then took the Platteklip Gorge trail to the top. We walked part-way along the plateau towards the actual high point, but due to the time, we turned back and walked instead to the upper cable car station. After videos and pics, we took the gorge route back down, and continued directly to the parking area below on Tafelberg Rd. This took 1h5m, but we then had to walk back along the road to the lower cable station, which took another 10-15 min, where the bus stop is also located.
Although we started out with sunny and pleasant temps, the winds were much higher at the top, and the windchill made it feel like about 5 C. Must remember that it's winter here in June. |
