Ascent Trip Report

I drove to Jefferson summit without 4x4; however, warnings in other trip reports are merited. The road is fine for travel with a passenger car up to the final Y-junction. The road up to the summit from the junction almost immediately degrades, and in several sections the margin for error is small or you will trapped in a rut. There are only two places where a car could possibly be turned around before reaching the top. There are substantial rocks littering the road near the top making clearance mandatory.

The hike from Jefferson Summit to the peak is straight-forward. The use trail fades in and out a few times, but the summit is almost always in view.
