Ascent Trip Report

Had a totally different objective in mind but we parked at the wrong parking lot and decided to head uphill from where we were at.

Hot day, almost 90. I went through 2 liters of water and would have like to have been able to drink more but didn't bring filtration.

Nice trail from the TH to Snow Lake. Snow and water on the trail but leather boots are fine. Snow Lake was still mostly frozen over.

Descent from the ridge to Snow Lake was super fun. Pointed our hiking boots down the snow hill, tucked, and pretended the boots were snow skis. We got going pretty fast like that!

Hiked around Snow Lake counter clockwise. Got to Gem Lake, also frozen over, then proceeded on snow around the north side of this peak to get to the summit.

Looks like Gem Lake is 10.4 miles RT and we probably wandered a mile or two past that.

Really enjoyable summit. A nice tree to sit against and provide shade. Snow near the summit made the air cool but the ground by the tree was dirt to sit on. Great views all the way around.

11am hit the trail. Back at the car at 7pm and headed to North Bend Bar and Grill for burgers and beer. They had trivia night (Sundays at 8) and we kicked some butt with our random knowledge of unnecessary info.
